
Rachel Keller is a fictionalized character in The Ring movie series. The character was invented by producer-writer Ehren Kruger and portrayed by Naomi Watts, serves as the protagonist of The Ring and The Ring Two which share a number of similarities with Reiko Asakawa, the protagonist of the original Japanese films.Introduced in the 2002 film, Rachel is an investigative journalist who has to find how to avoid death after having watched a video that was cursed that she came across while investigating the murder of her niece. Rachel is required to dig into the history of Samara Morgan after her son suffers from an unidentified illness. Ruth asks Rachel Keller, an investigative journalist to discover the reason for Katie's death. Rachel discovers that Katie was healthy , and that she discovered Katie's body disfigured inside the closet. Katie's friends tell Rachel about the myth surrounding the tape with the curse and the story of Katie's friend Becca was confined to an institution after seeing Katie's death. Katie's boyfriend, and two of her closest acquaintances, also passed away in strange accidents that occurred on the same night at 10:30 pm. Rachel is able to travel to Shelter Mountain Inn and stays in Cabin 12, which is the same cabin that Katie and her companions were watching the videotape with the curse. Rachel finds the mysterious tape and starts watching it, after which the phone rings. Rachel hears a voice utter "seven days". Rachel seeks advice from her ex-boyfriend Noah Clay, a video analyst. Later, Rachel discovers that Aidan who is her son with Noah had watched the tape at the same time that Noah calls her and assures Rachel that he believes in her. Rachel goes through the tape in order in order to determine the exact location of the lighthouse. It was on Moesko Island. Anna Morgan was a horse breeder cursed was on the tape. Rachel discovers that Anna was the mother of an adoptive daughter named Samara. She was capable of creating disturbing images in the minds of humans, animals and other objects. Rachel has to go to Anna's widower Richard when she starts asking questions regarding Samara.
