Garena has launched its Garena Professional League (GPL) in the month of May 2012, which is a six-month professional gaming competition that features more than 100 live matches. The inaugural season of the GPL was an on-line League of Legends tournament with six teams of professional players. which represent top players from their respective countries. GPL games are filmed on television and broadcast along with commentaries. They are available for viewers to watch through the GPL official website. In January of 2013, Garena announced the second seasons of Garena Premier League, which will begin on January 4th, 2013. Garena Premier League 2013, that began on January 4 2013 and will comprise two new teams: one each of Taiwan as well as Vietnam. It brings the number of teams up to eight. AHQ, Saigon Fantastic Five, Bangkok Titans, Kuala Lumpur Hunters, Manila Eagles, Taipei Assassins, and Singapore Sentinels are the teams.
