The range and diversity of Audra's work as an artist is unmatched. Audra has received six Tony Awards, two Grammy Awards, as well as an Emmy Award. The actress also broke the record of having the most awards received by a single actor. Her credits in the theatre include The Secret Garden (1993) Marie Christine (993) Henry IV (2004) and 110 in the Shade (707). McDonald first appeared on television as a drama actor in the Peabody Award winner CBS series Having Our Say - The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years. Her next role was that of a regular actor in NBC's Law & Order Special Victims Unit and she starred alongside Kathy Bates and Victor Garber. McDonald's first Emmy was awarded for her performance in the HBO movie version of Pulitzer Prize winner Wit. The film was directed by Mike Nichols with Emma Thompson in the leading role the actress was back on network television in 2003. The actress starred on Mister Sterling and produced by Emmy Award Winner Lawrence O'Donnell Jr. Then, in the year 2006, McDonald joined the WB's The Bedford Diaries. The next year she was an actor who appeared on NBC's Kidnapped. McDonald earned a nomination for a fourth Emmy in 2016, for her role in HBO's film in the series Lady Day, at Emerson's Bar and Grill. The Bite is a drama with six seasons based around an epidemic, produced with Spectrum Originals & CBS Studios. She appeared with Taylor Schilling & Steven Pasquale. McDonald played U.S. prosecutor Liz Lawrence in the first episode of her role played on the CBS drama The Good Wife legal drama in 2009. It was her turn to reprise the role in the year 2018, playing season main character Liz Reddick in Paramount+'s The Good Fight. As a result of the role she played, McDonald received three Critics Choice Award nominees. She guest stars as a guest star in Julian Fellowes historical drama The Gilded Age.
